Palakkad is a charming city , located in the central region and is the second-largest district in kerala . It is home to the Government College of Nursing. The college is functioning in the Government Medical College, Palakkad campus(Integrated Institute of Medical Sciences). The institute's campus is spread out over 55 acres and is surrounded by lush nature. The nursing college offers BSc Nursing Course with an annual intake is 60. Govt. College of Nursing, Palakkad is recognized by Kerala Nurses and Midwives Council and affiliated to Kerala University of Health Sciences , Thrissur. With an excellent team force, the college thrives to render quality education to the students and has the vision to be a centre of excellence in the future.

Philosophy
We the faculty Govt.College of Nursing,Palakkad,
believe that Nursing is a dynamic and promising profession that provides goal- oriented, direct services to the needs of the individual, family and community during health and illness. Nursing is influenced by advancements in science and technology and must keep in pace with other disciplines to maintain standards and high degree of professional competence in health care system. Nursing as a profession and a discipline utilizes knowledge derived from arts, sciences (physical, biological, and behavioural), humanities, and human experiences.Nursing science incorporates clinical competence, critical thinking, therapeutic communication, teaching-learning, professionalism and cultural competency. Nurses collaborate with other disciplines to address individual and community health needs. Nursing facilitates evidence- based practice and compassionate care among its practitioners in response to emerging issues in healthcare and new discoveries and technologies in the profession. Nursing practice requires personal commitment and lifelong learning for professional development.

Library
As per the declaration, the Director IIMS, permission is granted to utilize the Library facilities of Govt. Medical College, Palakkad in a shared manner. The college has a well-established library, which is extensive, well-ventilated and spacious with comfortable seating arrangements. There are also internet, Wi-Fi and e-journal facilities available. 714 e-journals are also available and permission is also granted for the same.
Hostel
Hostel facilities for girls and boys are available. Hostel is a two-storied building with spacious nadumuttam suitable for indoor games. The hostel has living rooms, sick rooms, guest rooms, and reading rooms. Hostel also has a visitors’ room, mess and dining hall, rooms for the warden, assistant warden, housekeeper, cleaning staff, and mess staff. Mess is running on a contract basis.
